Sometimes just stepping into an eatery you know from the outset it's going to be your cup of tea.

That is what the discovery of the Suffolk Jungle Room in Wissett has been.

The team has transformed the former village pub into a little gem and it is the perfect place for a catch up lunch with friends with its array of breakfast and brunch fare that you can enjoy over a cup of tea and a slice of cake - if you even have room.

Many will have enjoyed the Suffolk Jungle Room's premises at Metfield, but as an independent family business, it is great to see it bring its touch into more parts of Suffolk.

The first time I weaved through the lanes to Wissett for a breakfast a few weeks ago, I made a mental note this would be a great place to come and review and texted my friend as we scanned our diary to find a date to meet.

Unless you know the Suffolk Jungle Room is there, it would be easy not to make the journey out to the village of Wissett, which is just outside Halesworth.

After pausing over many possibilities on the menu, we decided we would go for the Wissett Ploughmans for two to share which costs £29.

This came with sausage roll, brie, blue cheese, burratta topped with pistachio pesto, selection of breads, parma ham, chorizo balls, pear, celery, chilli olives, balsamic pickled onions and cucumbers, hot garlic bulb and spiced plum chutney.

Now if you think that's a lot of food, you would be correct, and a nearby table's eyes widened as they saw the board be set down on our table.

The beauty of the platter is when you have a few months to catch up on, it is the perfect dish to just savour and move through slowly without fear that your food is going cold.

There are several stand out parts of the sharing platter, starting with the warm sausage roll that is packed with meat and beautifully flaky pastry. It sets you up to be excited by the rest of the plate.

Of the selection of breads, the warm garlic focaicca was especially mouth watering.

A sharing platter also means you can try different combinations because some items do compliment others better.

I love a good chutney and the spiced plum really worked with the meat and cheese, even the blue cheese which I do not usually eat, but in small bites really pulled a mouthful together.

Those who are not fans of pickled items will certainly feel the punch, but if you are sharing with someone, you can choose the items you like - or fight it out!

All in all, if you don't mind sharing you more than fill your boots without becoming uncomfortably full.

We naturally didn't quite have room for anything else, but on my first visit to the Jungle Room I enjoyed the eggs Benedict (£13) while my boyfriend found the Jungle Room Breakfast (£16) to be the perfect dish for him.

The price is right for the amount and quality you get. Going out for breakfast is certainly a weekend or day off treat and the team has clearly noted that with their choice of ingredients chosen to make the dishes well worth it.

The space is also very open and welcoming and if you are a plant fan (or like me admire those who can keep plants alive), there is a whole space filled with luscious vegetation that adds to a calming atmosphere.

It is dog friendly, has an open fire for those cold days and you can watch the world go by.

If you are a rambler or a cyclist, it is a great stop to fill up as you prepare for a trek across Suffolk countryside.

Ultimately what the Suffolk Jungle Room provides are dishes that are hearty, homemade and most importantly delicious.
