The mum of a 10-year-old girl who has been diagnosed with a rare bone cancer has said the last month has been a "nightmare" as her friend gears up to undertake a skydive to raise money for the family.
Kiki Wright, of Bury St Edmunds, was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma in February and is now undertaking a nine-month course of chemotherapy at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.
Last month Kiki's grandmother said the family were told the condition leaves her with a 50/50 survival rate.
Kiki's mum Kat said: "It was a massive shock and it has been an emotional roller-coaster and a nightmare to be honest.
"We stay strong, which we have to for Kiki, and it affects her brother as well."
On Friday, March 29, Kat's friend Georgia Castle will take on the challenge of a skydive to raise funds for the family as Kat has been left unable to work for the foreseeable future.
On her fundraising page, Georgia wrote: "Kiki you are one brave, inspiring, beautiful girl and you will beat this."
Kat said: "Georgia is my good friend and she reached out to me saying is there anything I could do to help, and that is what Kiki asked her to do, so she has said yes.
"The response has been amazing, everyone has been very supportive."
The Spread Eagle pub in Bury St Edmunds is also hosting a quiz night fundraiser to honour Kiki.
Kat said: "Kiki does enjoy going to their quiz night on a weekly basis so they thought it would be a good thing to do for her.
"They have some amazing prizes that people can win.
"It just makes it that little bit easier that everyone is there and everyone does care."
