The owner of a village café that has closed its doors suddenly has said they are "gutted" to have to close.

The Box River Café in Broad Street, Boxford, between Sudbury and Hadleigh, closed on Saturday, March 30.

In a statement on social media on Sunday, the owner wrote: "Our final day went out with a bang. Thank you all for your final support. Thank you all for your cards, flowers, chocolate, wine etc.

"I am truly gutted to have to close. We tried to find a way to stay.

"I am proud of what I turned the café into. I have made so many friends and will miss all of my customers.

"Please watch this space for our next adventure. Lots of love," they added.

The Box River Café at Boxford served everything from breakfast dishes to salads and paninis, alongside cakes, cookies, coffees and other hot drinks.

The eatery offered options to sit in or takeaway.
