A man has been taken to hospital after a search and rescue mission was carried out in an east Suffolk village. 

Emergency services were called to a concerns for safety in Common Lane, Bromeswell, near Woodbridge, at 7.05pm on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said officers attended and a man was taken to hospital. 

Four fire crews from Woodbridge and Princes Street stations were called out to the east Suffolk village to assist officers with a search in the area.

A drone was also used during the search by Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance officer vehicle and two Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles were sent to the River Deben near Melton on Tuesday following reports of a man in difficulty in the water.

"The patient was brought to land with the aid of Fire and Rescue colleagues and a man was transported to Addenbrookes Hospital for further assessment and care."

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for comment.
