There was severe disruption on the A12 caused by a lorry blocking part of the road.
Police were called to reports of an obstruction in the northbound direction near Little Glemham at 10.50am.
A lorry was half on and half off the road which caused a blockage and serious delays in both directions said a spokesman.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said: "There will be severe disruption on a major route."

The A12 was closed while the lorry is recovered and the incident was cleared by 1pm.
No injuries have been reported.
