A new energy incinerator to burn medical waste from nearby hospitals is being planned for a hamlet near the Suffolk coast.
A new application, validated on Wednesday, April 3, has been submitted by Blythburgh Estate landowner Sir Charles Blois.
The plans are for a change of use and for alterations to two agricultural barns for small waste to an energy incinerator to burn medical waste.
According to application documents, the site would allow clinical waste from local hospitals to be reused, turning it into electricity and reducing hospital costs for disposing of the waste.
The application site is Poplar Farm at Bowmans Lane in Hinton, between Dunwich and the A12, a farmyard that is largely unused, according to the plans.
The site is well placed for access to hospitals in Ipswich, Norwich and Gorleston, which will be the principal sources of waste.
The plans would also create two vehicle passing spaces on Haw Wood Road.
The plans, submitted to Suffolk County Council, are expected to create six jobs.
