A man from Martlesham has been ordered to pay nearly £300 for failing to give identity documents to the police.

Toby Issac Hewitt, of Bloomfields Farm, was driving an Audi on New Steet in London when he was stopped by the chief officer and asked for his identity.

Hewitt did not provide his identity and was subsequently taken to Central London Magistrates Court.

The 33-year-old initially pleaded not guilty but later changed his plea and said he was guilty.

He was ordered to pay a fine of £146, along with a surcharge of £58 and cost of £85 – taking his total to £289.

The court also added six points on Mr Hewitt’s licence.
