Drivers are facing a 20-mile diversion route while an emergency road closure is in place in a village.
The Causeway in Hitcham, north of Hadleigh, will be shut until 3.30pm on Thursday
While the road is closed Suffolk Highways will be carrying out emergency carriageway patching.
According to Suffolk County Council's website, the official diversion route is 20 miles long.
The diversion route is so long as it takes drivers along A roads.
This is because some vehicles like HGVs cannot go down smaller roads that others would use as shortcuts.
The diversion is expected to add on about 40 minutes to drivers' journeys.
