The trial of a Newmarket man accused of murdering his wife has now begun.

On Monday, Olubunmi Abodundee appeared in the dock at Ipswich Crown Court. Abodundee, 48, is accused of killing his wife, Taiwo Abodundee, at their family home in Exning Road, Newmarket, in November last year.

On November 28, police officers arrived at the property at 9.55am, where they discovered the body of Mrs Abodundee. Paramedics were in attendance, but Mrs Abodundee was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers arrested her husband and a 38-year-old man, who was later released and faces no further action.

Abodundee was charged with murdering his wife. He has denied this and seeks to prove his innocence at trial.

On Monday, the jury who will deliberate on this case were sworn in at Ipswich Crown Court. These 14 men and women will determine whether he murdered his wife.

The trial is expected to take three weeks and will commence tomorrow (Tuesday).
