A man who threatened a shopkeeper with a knife and a student who became involved in cross-country drug dealing were among those jailed in Suffolk this week.

Scott Bartin, of Hammersmith Way in Ipswich, grew up in foster care and came from a "difficult background" according to Jane Oldfield, his defence lawyer. 

He was sentenced for robbing a Bramford Lane store while brandishing a "frightening” blade on Thursday at Ipswich Crown Court.

Bartin took about £200 in cash during the robbery and then left before returning to demand a vape. 

The shopkeeper said she has been left feeling scared to work alone in the shop.

Bartin, 20, was sentenced to three years and six months detention in a young offender institution.

Lachezar Blangev was stopped by officers on patrol in Clapgate Lane in Ipswich on February 3 where officers saw messages on his phone linked to the supply of drugs. 

Police then traced Blangev back to a caravan in Broadgrass Green, near Elmswell, where 79 bags of cocaine and more than £2,000 were found.

Blangev was sentenced to 28 months in jail at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday for being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

He was also sentenced to nine months behind bars for possession of criminal property, which will run concurrently.

Jurgen Kapica and Vinjola Geca have been jailed for their role in supplying drugs in Bury St Edmunds.

Both 23, the two defendants were arrested on January 25, at Snakes Lane East, Woodford Green, after police searched the property.

Both Kapica and Geca pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

Kapica was sentenced to three years and four months in prison for each offence while Geca was sentenced to two years and six months.
