A three-month road closure on a main road through an east Suffolk village has been postponed.

High Street in Ufford, near Woodbridge, was due to be closed from Monday, May 13 to allow Cadent to carry out repair works.

The repairs would take nearly three months to complete with the reopening date planned to be two and a half months later on August 2.

Cadent has confirmed the road closure has been postponed.

A spokesman for Cadent said: "Plans had been put in place to begin a mains replacement project in High Street, Ufford, to install new pipes which will last for decades, future proofing the local network and keeping thousands of homes warm.

"While we are obviously disappointed that we cannot begin our work of supplying an improved gas network to the area from May 13, we will continue to liaise with all parties to find an appropriate date when the work can begin."
