A mid Suffolk man who stole cleaning products and clothes in Ipswich has been sentenced.

Russell McRae, of Mill Road in Battisford, near Stowmarket, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court in Ipswich on March 5.

The 31-year-old was charged with two counts of theft.

According to a court listing, the first charge related to two parcels containing an Abercrombie & Fitch T-shirt and a Superdry hoodie being taken in Ipswich on January 11 this year.

The second charge related to a package containing Smol cleaning products, also in Ipswich, the following day.

Smol is an online retailer that posts packages containing products such as laundry capsules, dishwasher tablets and sprays.

McRae pleaded guilty to both offences at the court.

Magistrates handed him a condition discharge for a period of eight months, meaning he could face punishment if he commits a further offence during this time.

He was told to pay compensation of £24, as well as costs of £145 and a victim surcharge of £24.
