Permission has been sought to convert a barn into a four-bedroom house in Layham, near Hadleigh.

Under the plans, an outbuilding at Barn Hill Farm, 1.2km southwest of the town of Hadleigh, would be redeveloped into a home.

Babergh Council has received notification for prior approval of the change of use of the agricultural building to a residential property.

No intensive farming activities have taken place at Barn Hill Farm for many years and the site is mainly used for horses.

The steel portal frame barn, dating to the 1970s or 1980s, would be renovated to include a large kitchen/dining/living room, separate sitting room, study, boot room, and four bedrooms, spread over two floors.

There would be three car parking spaces and access would be via the existing driveway also used for the main farmhouse.

The consultation on the application closes on June 27 2024.
