A pop-up home accessories shop has closed down after selling out of stock, creating an opportunity for a new business in a seaside town centre.

The Bijou store in Hamilton Road, Felixstowe, was opened by owner Louise Wood in June to sell stock from the warehouse.

She said: "It was going to be a pop-up shop really, because we had a website and a warehouse and I wanted to close that all down.

"I wanted to sell the stock through the shop. It was only ever going to be for a set period of time."

Prior to opening Bijou, Ms Wood worked for the bank HSBC in Felixstowe for 34 years until it closed in July 2021.

At the time of opening the shop, she said: "I have always worked in the town and my dream was to one day open a boutique-style homewares shop in the place where I grew up.

"I'm a firm believer in the value of the High Street for the community and town.

"A bustling high street with lots of interesting and independent shops is more important than ever and I’m looking forward to be being part of that."
