An award-winning east Suffolk gastropub has been named among the best restaurants in the UK.

The Unruly Pig in Bromeswell, near Woodbridge, is celebrating after being selected as one of the best restaurants at the National Restaurants Awards.

The hit venue, which is no stranger to national recognition, was ranked as the 56th best restaurant in the country - which is up 21 places from last year.

Chef patron Dave Wall said: "This is another great accolade for Suffolk and for Team Unruly.

"Every restaurant in this prestigious list are serious and talented operators – we were therefore in auspicious company and very lucky to even make the cut.

"It means so very much because it is our peers who vote for these awards, and I am humbled by their generosity and kindness in voting for us."

The Unruly Pig was also recently named as the best gastropub in the country at the Estrella Damm UK Awards

Owner Brendan Padfield said: "Our team at The Unruly Pig make me proud every day but it is their sheer hard work, dedication, loyalty, and attention to detail that seems to make the difference.

"These are troubled times for the hospitality: Brexit and the cost-of-living crisis continue to adversely impact every single day, so this is another wonderful accolade and a well-deserved shot in the arm for Team Unruly.

"Thank you so very much to all the lovely people who voted for Team Unruly."

The Unruly Pig is open for lunch and dinner service seven days a week and tables can be booked via its website.

The only other eatery in East Anglia to make the list was Restaurant 22 in Cambridge.
