A man arrested yesterday in connection with an armed robbery in Ipswich has been bailed in relation to the incident.

On Friday, the police helicopter was deployed around the wet dock area of the town in a bid to catch the suspect responsible for the attack, which occurred in the car park at Realise Futures in Lovetofts Drive, just before 9.45am.

A male employee of G4S security in his 50s was making a collection at the premises when he opened the side door of his van and was approached from behind by a man with a knife.

The victim suffered a cut to his wrist and was treated initially by first-aiders at Realise Futures before paramedics treated him at the scene. His injuries were not serious.

The offender stole in the region of £1,000 and ran from the scene in the direction of Asda. He was seen to leave the area on a blue motorbike.

Then on Friday night, officers arrested a 25-year-old man from Ipswich on suspicion of robbery.

He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he has been bailed to return to on Wednesday, June 17 pending further enquiries.
