Revised plans for Bramford ambulance station revealed

Seven bungalows could be constructed on the disused St John Ambulance Station site in Duckamere in Bramford, if given backing by Mid Suffolk District Council. 

Members of the council's planning committee rejected an application, which includes demolishing the premises and additional offices, for eight homes last month due to "huge concerns" over parking issues. 

A new planning statement read: "This application proposes the construction of 7no. detached two-bed bungalows. This will be achieved through demolition of the existing structures on site and altering the position of the site entrance point along Duckamere."

A single access road onto the site would be created. 

"It is considered that the vehicle movement on and off the site will be reduced compared to the previous use," the planning statement continues. 

The front two properties would face onto Duckamere to "provide a street presence of the development."

Changes made by the developer, Foundation Properties, include reducing the number of homes, widening the pathway between garages and increasing the size of the bungalows. 

Speaking at a planning meeting last month, James Caston, ward member for Bramford at Mid Suffolk District Council, said: "We know that people park in nearly every single space on Duckamere and this will add more strain.

"During the construction, there will be dust everywhere and with children coming past, so we need to seriously make sure there's no harm to youngsters."

The latest application is currently with planners and awaiting determination. 

A decision is expected to be made by Wednesday, September 24.
