A supermarket giant has opened a new store in a Suffolk village.

Located inside the former Budgens shop in Great Blakenham, the new Tesco Express first opened its doors in late September.

The new store is being run by 17 staff members, 14 of whom transferred to Tesco from Budgens after the shop closed down in July.

Store Manager Adam Hall said, “Having colleagues transfer over from Budgens has really helped, as so many customers already know them by name.

"I love managing a neighbourhood store, as you can get to know your regulars and build great relationships with them.

"The first month of trading has gone really well.

"It's been really nice to meet the local community, and so far the feedback from customers is that the store is very well laid out, features a lot of variety in terms of products and looks very modern.”

Plans were first revealed to turn the former Budgens store into a Tesco Express in June.
