London Stansted is preparing for a surge of up to 840,000 passengers during the October half-term holiday.
Many families are expected to travel in search of late autumn sunshine before winter.
Top short-haul destinations include Turkey, the Canary Islands, Spain and Portugal.
Further afield, Dubai, Amman and destinations in North Africa remain popular for guaranteed warmth.
Around 400,000 people are expected to depart from the airport, with 440,000 arriving in the UK.
October 26 and 27 are forecast to be the busiest days, with more than 52,000 passengers flying out on the Sunday alone.
Anita Harrison, customer operations director at London Stansted, said: "The October half-term is always a really busy and exciting time for us as families head off to enjoy a well-earned break.
"We’re expecting strong passenger numbers again this year, with many making the most of the last opportunity for some sunshine before winter.
"Our teams will be on hand throughout the week to help passengers enjoy a smooth start to their journeys, whether they’re heading to Europe’s beaches or further afield."
Popular destinations include Tenerife, Alicante and Dubai.
