A beach footpath has now reopened following temporary closure for construction work on a marine facility.
The coastal footpath was closed on weekdays in February and March to “safely carry out construction work” on the Marine Bulk Import Facility (MBIF) at Sizewell C, to be used to import construction materials by sea.
Sizewell C confirmed on their website the footpath reopened on April 1, 2026.
The MBIF is set to stretch approximately 500 metres into the North Sea, starting from the main construction site.
This structure is part of a plan to deliver 60 per cent of the construction materials by rail and sea.
Further construction works on the MBIF are necessary from April 7 until the end of May, according to an online statement from Sizewell C.
To ensure safety during these works, Sizewell C has this statement on its website: “Marshals will be in place to guide people safely under the structure when passing through the work area.
“We will be working Monday to Friday (with occasional weekend works), to complete the remaining work as quickly as possible and reduce overall disruption.”
