A family attraction has been awarded a six figure sum for two new permanent exhibits.
The Food Museum received £357,600 from the government’s Wolfson Museums and Galleries Improvement Fund.
The museum was named the UK’s official hub for preserving food-related living heritage as it undergoes a wider £5.6 million transformation, dubbed The Kitchen Project.
The funding will support the creation of two permanent exhibitions and a new orientation film.
Jenny Cousins, Food Museum director, said: "We are thrilled to receive this support from DCMS and the Wolfson Foundation.
"The Kitchen Project is an exciting project that will transform the visitor experience, and this award gives us the opportunity to deliver exhibitions that will connect people with the stories behind their food.”
The two new exhibitions are called ‘The Factory’ and ‘The Barn’ and explore the history of industrial food production and domestic food production respectively.
The Factory is scheduled to open in spring 2027 to mark the museum's 60th anniversary, with The House following in summer 2027.
