Glemsford targeted by vandals as solar panel smashed

Glemsford Parish Council has been left footing the bill to repair damage after five separate incidents.

Among the items damaged was a solar panel which was struck "possibly by a stone" at the village hall, which the council say is the third panel to be damaged since they were installed in January 2025.

A black bin bag was also thrown onto the roof of the village hall, near to the solar panels.

Then at the corner of Harpur's Road in the village, a litter bin and its cement base was pushed over.

Another litter bin, through the footpath between Harpur's Road and Fourth Avenue was also pushed over.

The parish council has said that both bins have since been collected by volunteers.

Then at the school fields playground chocolate spread containing hazelnuts was spread over several pieces of play equipment.

The council said that this is the second time the playground has been targeted, with the last time in March with line market paint.

A spokesman for the council said: "Councillors would be grateful for any information regarding the bins, the solar panels or the Schoolfield playground incidents.
