Deliveries of large construction materials will cause disruption on major roads for more than a month.
The A12, A14 and A134 will be impacted from September 14 until the end of October, with the materials being transported from the Port of Felixstowe to a construction compound north of Leavenheath.
The disruptions are part of the Bramford to Twinstead Great Grid Upgrade project.
The materials, which will be delivered up to two times a day from Monday to Thursday, are larger than usual and will be transported with a police escort.
Deliveries are scheduled to avoid rush hour and will not leave the port until after 9am.
The delivery route begins on the A14, moves onto the A12 at the Copdock Interchange, leaves the A12 at the Colchester North Interchange and continues on the A134.
The deliveries will not require any road closures, although congestion is expected, particularly after leaving the A12.
A spokesperson for the National Grid said: "We understand that our work may cause some disruption to your journey, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
"Our teams will work to complete these activities as efficiently and safely as possible."
