Drivers faced long delays on the A12 this evening following three separate crashes on the same stretch of road inside ten minutes.

The first happened at about 4.15pm on the southbound carriageway at Capel St Mary, where a Ford Fiesta overturned. The driver escaped the wreckage without serious injury.

Just three minutes later, near the next junction on the opposite carriageway, a Mazda collided with a Ford Focus and another vehicle. Again, no one was badly hurt in the crash.

Then, at 4.28pm, two vehicles collided near to where the first car overturned on the southbound carriageway.

A rolling road block was set up by police, leading to traffic congestion.

Earlier, traffic was delayed on the westbound carriageway of the A14 at the junction with the A140, where a tanker blew a tyre at around 2.50pm.
