THE A12 has re-opened after a major crash led to its closure for more than two hours this afternoon.
The busy road was shut after a serious accident involving two cars which has left one person injured.
The accident happened just after 1pm on the northbound carriageway and left a green Renault Clio on the crash barrier near to junction 27 which leads into Colchester town centre.
A green Honda was also involved in the accident and ended up facing the wrong way against the flow of traffic.
Fire and ambulance attended and the road was fully re-opened at 3.15pm.
