Commuters faced traffic delays on the A14 near the Orwell Bridge earlier after a car broke down and needed to be recovered.
A westbound lane was forced to close after a car broke down between the Nacton and Wherstead Interchange on the A14 at around 3.25pm.
The occupants, an elderly couple a Suffolk Police spokesman said, did not suffer any injuries,
The yellow MG came into difficulty on the westbound carriageway. It was recovered by 4.35pm.
One lane which closed earlier has now reopened.
