Suffolk police say that a dog that was hit by a car on the A14 between Copdock and Wherstead on Wednesday is still being treated by vets following the crash.
Vets are still trying to save a black Labrador who was struck in the second lane of the eastbound carriageway shortly before 10.30 yesterday morning.
Hadleigh Police tweeted at the time: “Please take care as you approach this part of the A14 and expect possible delays.”
The lane was closed for around an hour while vets were called to the scene.
At 11.30am, they tweeted to update drivers, suggesting the road had re-opened again – and that the dog had been taken to the vets.
A Suffolk police spokesman said this afternoon that the dog was still alive but was in a serious condition and that vets were doing all they could for the animal.
Hadleigh Police had also received reports of another dog still loose in the area, but officers were unable to locate a second animal.
