Suffolk students are celebrating after winning an award for entrepreneurship and problem solving.
Joseph Dix and Adam Marsh from Bright Tribe’s Alde Valley Academy in Leiston won at the recent Young Enterprise regional finals at the University of Suffolk.
The team-mates’ work began in October with a cake sale, which funded their Christmas decorations product, and raised more cash through a Sports Relief school talent show. The decoration prototypes were developed working through break and lunchtimes, after school and during holidays.
They used environmentally-friendly reclaimed wood marked with laser cut designs. The boys gained sponsorship and advice on how to develop their product further.
Award directors praised the boys’ “determination, integrity and resilience”.
Joseph said the pair were “absolutely thrilled” to have won – and hoped for success in the national final in July.
