People trying to trace their ancestors will be able to get some expert help at a special open day taking place next month.

The Alde Valley Family History Group is holding the event at the Long Shop Museum in Leiston from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, February 24.

A variety of exhibits will be on show, including local graveyard surveys, war memorials, directories, parish registers, census returns, and old maps of the area, and researchers from the group will be able to demonstrate use of the internet to help with research, give advice on sources, and help date any old family photos which people may bring along.

Parham Airfield Museum will also be putting on a display about Britain’s Secret Army, the hush-hush underground Second World War British Resistance Organisation, which was active in east Suffolk.

Entry free, but donations to the Long Shop appreciated.
