A MAN was airlifted to hospital after collapsing with chest pains on a barge near Aldeburgh.

An RAF rescue helicopter flew the 77-year-old to Ipswich Hospital shortly after 1pm on Monday.

Coastguards scrambled a RNLI lifeboat to the scene in the River Alde. The man was transferred from the barge to the lifeboat before being winched into the helicopter.
