PEOPLE have the chance to share their views and help influence how their community will grow in the future.

A meeting will be held in Aldeburgh to discuss drawing up a Town Plan. Organisers are hoping as many people as possible will attend to share their views on issues that affect the resort. A number of communities are in the process of drawing up plans for their towns or villages, which are designed to give people a greater say on planning decisions.

The meeting in Aldeburgh will be held at the Community Centre on Saturday, April 27 at 5pm. Organisers hope to identify the main issues affecting the town and find volunteers to help move the plan forward.

Speaking at the annual town meeting Tony Bone, chairman of the Aldeburgh Society, which has been working with other groups and organisations to start the project, said: “At the moment we don’t have a community plan for Aldeburgh. If we did we would be in a much better situation to argue our case (with the district and county councils).

“We need people’s views to produce a plan and come up with a series of actions to move forward. What are the things that matter to you? How would you like to see the town develop? The town council is very much behind the plan but it is not expected to lead the process - it is very much from within the community.”
