When is it happening?

The big light switch-on is on Friday (December 2), with the fair running from 5.30pm-8.30pm on its first day.

The Friday night will start with the lighting of the village Christmas tree in the Market Place.

The fair then continues from 11am-5pm on Saturday (December 3) and 11am-4pm on Sunday (December 4).

What will be there?

Other attractions include more than 55 gifts, crafts and clothes stalls in marquees and the Guildhall – as well as the return of Lavenham Falconry and late-night shopping.

Food and drink areas and the return of the big wheel are other popular fixtures.

Musical entertainment is planned for the weekend from the D’Ukes Ukelele Band, the Lavenham Upbeat Contemporary Choir, the Bury Fair Women Morris Dancers, solo singer Sabrina Ward, local singer/guitarist Mike Gage and Sudbury-based singer-songwriter Ben Smith.

What can I win?

A guided lantern walk around Lavenham will take place on Saturday afternoon and a grand raffle – with prizes donated by the Great House, the Swan Hotel, Jonathan Lambert Jewellers, Lavenham Butchers, Retail Therapy and a long weekend in Mint Cottage, one of Grove Cottages’ medieval holiday lets in Lavenham – will also be held.

What is being said about it?

Martine Crepy, from the organising committee, said: “The weekend Christmas fair is a big part of Lavenham, for both residents and visitors alike.

“It is the perfect way to start Christmas and we are working hard to ensure this year’s fair is the best one yet with plenty for all the family and increased car parking spaces around the village.”
