Two men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary after a driver made off from police in Ipswich this morning and the vehicle was found abandoned a short time later.

Police were on patrol just before 10am when they saw a Ford Focus car that made off. Moments later the vehicle was found abandoned in Hogarth Road and a quantity of power tools were found inside the car.

Officers immediately began a search of the area, calling in a dog unit to assist, and two men – a 49-year-old and a 28-year-old - were located and arrested.

Both have been taken into custody at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where they will be interviewed by officers.
