SUPERMARKET giant Asda has advised customers to return figs to the supermarket after maggots were found.

SUPERMARKET giant Asda has advised customers to return figs to the supermarket after maggots were found.

The retailer issued a product recall for Asda Wholefoods Garland Figs in 250g packs.

With a best-before date of July 31 2010, the fruit was priced �1.38 and had a barcode number of 050854916182.

In a statement, Asda said: “We are recalling Asda Wholefoods Garland Figs 250g because some customers have found maggots in them.

Clearly this isn't right. We're sorry this has happened and are busy getting to the bottom of it with

our supplier to make sure it will never happen again.”

Customers were told to return the figs to any Asda store to receive a refund.
