Award-winning Southwold bakery to award prize to its 500,000th customer as part of fifth anniversary celebrations

An award-winning Southwold bakery is set for a double celebration at the end of this month – marking its fifth anniversary and awarding a tasty prize to its 500,000th customer.
The Two Magpies Bakery, located on Southwold’s busy high street, made an impact when it was opened by Rebecca Bishop in March 2013 – and has continued to go from strength to strength ever since.
Ms Bishop set up the business after attending a course at the School of Artisan Food in Nottinghamshire.
Two Magpies now employs 17 people in the bakery and cafe, serving breakfasts, lunches and afternoon tea in its 18-cover seating area.
Ms Bishop said: “It’s a crazy coincidence that our anniversary coincides with this huge customer milestone and it just seems like a perfect opportunity to shout about the business and how far we’ve come in five short years.

“We’ve worked so hard to gain a loyal customer base in Southwold and we feel we’ve achieved so much in the last five years.
“The bakery is always bustling and busy with customers so it’s fantastic to be able to celebrate this amazing milestone and we can’t wait to get our customers involved too.”

The bakery will be launching a customer countdown leading up to the Easter weekend, with plans to reward its 500,000th customer with a bottle of champagne and a gift voucher for bread and cakes.
Staff at Two Magpies make and bake all bread, cakes and pastries in the on-site bakery.
All products are made fresh every day using local produce where possible, with favourites including the Two Magpies’ Saturday night sourdough pizzas, buttery croissants, cinnamon swirls and a chocolate stout cake made using local brewery St Peters’ ‘cream stout’.
Two Magpies Bakery also runs a number of pizza masterclasses and supper clubs.
At the masterclasses, guests are invited to try their hand at making and shaping their own sourdough pizza, while the supper clubs also teach cookery skills.
Ms Bishop added that the bakery plans to open more sites in the coming years.
“The business is going from strength-to-strength and Two Magpies has proven that high-quality cakes and bread are a hit,” she said.
“It makes sense to consider expansion so watch this space.”
