Four balaclava-clad men forced their way into a Bocking flat at 1am today, demanded cash, and pointed a gun at a man.
The victim, in his 50s, was punched in the face, but the gang left the Church Lane home empty-handed.
The firearm was described as looking like an imitation weapon.
