TOP selling band The Beautiful South is the latest act to be added to the line up of the hugely popular V Festival.

The band, formed in 1989 by Paul Heaton and Dave Hemingway following the demise of The Housemartins, will join a strong line up for the annual music event, which takes place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park Staffordshire over the weekend of August 19 and 20.

The Beautiful South has sold 15million albums, releasing one of the biggest selling British 'Best Of' albums ever.

At the 11th V Festival, the band is set to perform old favourites as well as material from their new album Superbi, out next month.

Festival director Simon Moran said: “We welcome The Beautiful South back to V this summer following their first performance back in 1999.

“Their longevity and album sales are a testament to what a great band they are. If you've never caught them live, I strongly advise that you do - they will blow you away.”

The line up so far includes Radiohead, Morrissey, Faithless, Girls Aloud, Paul Weller and Keane.
