A 17-year-old boy from the Beccles area is due to appear at Lowestoft Youth Court this morning, Wednesday, December 4.

He is charged with aggravated vehicle taking, drink driving, driving without insurance, driving with no licence and failing to stop for police.

The charges follow an incident on Sunday, September 8 where a silver Audi was found crashed in Benacre Road at Ellough. The police helicopter was used to search for the occupant of the vehicle who was found in a ditch at Ellough Road.

The teenager, who can’t be named because of his age, was subsequently charged with the five offences including drink driving with 120 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood – more than three times the drink-drive limit.
