BIG Brother is to be axed after one final series next year, Channel 4 confirmed today.

It comes as the latest series struggles to attract two million viewers, way down from its peak of more than ten million just a few years ago.

Channel 4 has a three-year deal with Endemol, thought to be worth around 180 million, to screen the series. That ends next year and the channel has decided not to renew the deal.

There will also be one more series of Celebrity Big Brother early next year before the deal ends.

It remains to be seem if the show will be picked up by another channel.
