He was riding his motorcycle in Fingringhoe Road, just past the Whalebone pub, Fingringhoe, when he was in collision with a car shortly after 5.15pm yesterday .
An ambulance from Colchester, as well as a paramedic and the air ambulance were called to the scene after receiving reports of the crash.
However, the motorcyclist, who has not yet been named, was declared dead shortly after the ambulance crew arrived.
The driver of the car, a 52-year-old woman from Rowhedge, was taken to Colchester General Hospital for treatment for minor neck and other injuries.
