BRAVE binmen trapped a four-foot python as it tried to get into their lorry.

Dustmen spotted the African Rock Python while doing their rounds in Westcliff on Tuesday and managed to trap it in a box.

The snake, which will grow to a full size of 18ft and 20 stones, was then handed over to a local wildlife centre where it is now being cared for.

It is thought the animal, which is not poisonous but can deliver a nasty bite, was a pet that had been put out with the rubbish by its owner.
