A VIRTUOSO violinist is set to premiere a new work in one of Suffolk’s most magnificent settings this evening.
Madeleine Mitchell will appear in concert with Prometheus Orchestra, as part of the Alwyn Festival, at Blythburgh’s Holy Trinity Church.
The new work, Romanza by David Matthews, will be premiered before its first London performance in March, for the composer’s 70th birthday.
Commissioned by Mitchell with funding from the Cohen Trust, the piece will be performed live at 7.30pm tonight, along with works by Alwyn and local composer Elis Pehkonen.
