A Suffolk village is to host its first open gardens this weekend when 16 houses will be showcasing their horticultural secrets.
Organisers of the event in Brandeston, near Framlingham, say it will be a “spectacular occasion”.
“There are so many wonderful gardens to explore,” a spokesman added.
Among the 16 participants are a Jacobean house with “secret gardens”, medieval cottages, formal gardens, a chef’s garden, pergolas, ponds, summer houses, an old chapel and a graveyard.
Others include an old post office, chickens, sculptures and orchards of quince, greengage and mulberry.
A huge cactus, which is hoped to bloom for the first time in years, will be on show.
Children will be able to take pony rides, while a tuk-tuk will take visitors to the furthest gardens and back.
The event runs 11am-4pm on Saturday and 12-4pm on Sunday.
Tickets, costing £5, gain entry to all 16 gardens. Children attend free.
