A football club has welcomed in new fans on a day to raise its profile in Suffolk.

Bury Town was boosted when more than 400 people came along to an activities day called “One Town, One Goal.”

There was live music and competitions on offer with Mark Murphy and Ipswich Town legend Kevin Beattie presenting their Life’s a Pitch show for BBC Radio Suffolk in the ground.

Russell Ward, club chairman, said: “It’s been absolutely fantastic. We had a decent crowd of 410 people.

“We won 2-0 against Bognor Regis, who are about fourth in the (Ryman Premier) league, and we’re 14th-15th, so it was a good day.

“We want to get people behind us and I think we were worthy of the three points, today so hopefully they will come back.

“The first 50 people through the gate got a T-shirt from Greene King.”

The day also saw the launch of the club’s new sponsorship deal with Bury St Edmunds-based brewer Greene King.
