A REFURBISHED fire station is set to reopen.
Rae Leighton, Suffolk County Council’s portfolio holder for public protection will attend the reopening of the station in Bury St Edmunds and for the fire service’s “Fighting Fit and Healthy” pass out parade on Saturday
The station refurbishment is part of the a private finance scheme being run by Suffolk County Council to build or refurbish 11 of Suffolk’s 35 fire stations.
Mr Leighton said: “Not only does the newly refurbished Bury St Edmunds fire station now have better accommodation for female firefighters and access for people with disabilities, the new design has also created the facilities and space for the local community to use. “This also gives the fire and rescue service greater opportunities to deliver its fire safety education campaigns and activities.
“The refurbishment of Bury St Edmunds Fire Station really is of great benefit to the whole community.”
