Bury St Edmunds: Man charged over alleged rape and robbery

A man in his twenties is alleged to have been robbed and sexually assaulted in the early hours of Saturday.

Police officers found the injured man in Fieldfare Close, Bury St Edmunds, at around 3.10am.

He reported that he had been robbed, assaulted and sexually assaulted by a man in Mount Road some time between 2.30am and 3am.

The victim was taken to West Suffolk Hospital with facial injuries but has since been released.

Kyle Haggerty, 20, of Anselm Avenue, Bury St Edmunds, has been charged with attempted rape, robbery and burglary in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
