A man has been punched in the ribs in an unprovoked attack in Bury St Edmunds.

The victim, aged in his early thirties, was walking through the wooded area of the nature reserve heading towards Beetons Way on Monday, May 26, between 6.30pm and 7pm. As he neared the end of this area he saw two people standing beside the path.

Passing these people, he was struck in the lower ribs and knocked to the ground. The victim got to his feet and turned to where the suspects had been standing to see them running off towards the town centre. The victim suffered bruising.

Police are appealing for information after the assault. The offenders are described as male, both of stocky build, with one around 5ft 6in tall and the other around 6ft 1in tall. They were both wearing black hooded tops with the hoods up, black trousers and black shoes.
