NEW lighting that links two key shopping areas in Bury St Edmunds has been unveiled.
The illuminated arches have been installed at both ends of Central Walk to welcome the hundreds of shoppers who use it every day, to move between the historic town centre and the arc shopping area.
Councillor Robert Everitt, St Edmundsbury Borough Council portfolio holder for Bury St Edmunds, said: “I am very pleased that the finishing touches to the Central Walk enhancements have been completed. The arches invite visitors to pass under them, and the extra lighting is reassuring at night.”
Central Walk is home to some long-established independent businesses, including Sneezums the jewellers, tobacconists Lorfords and Wigram and Ware, opticians.
The cost of the enhancements, including paving, lighting and the arches, was £33,000 and was funded by the Arc developers.
