Mr Bishop, who has worked for a number of prestigious hotels including Selsdon Park Hotel in Surrey, York House in Eastbourne and the Derwent Hotel in Torquay, said he was “very excited” about forthcoming plans for the hotel.
“I am passionate about strengthening the hotel's position within the heart of the community and am planning some customer-based initiatives, with specific emphasis being placed on the quality of service which we provide and the promotion of fresh, locally-sourced food.”
Group operations director Grahame Tinnion said: “We are delighted to welcome Ian on board, and hope that his considerable experience in the industry will enable us to build on The White Lion's reputation as being one of the region's most respected hotels.”
