Anglian Turkey Association (ATA) secretary Len Goodman was recognised for his efforts on behalf of East Anglia’s turkey producers at a ceremony last month.
Len, who retired from the position in 2016, was presented with an award in recognition of his long service after working for the organisation for 23 years.
Essex turkey producer and ATA president Derek Kelly handed it to him at the organisation’s annual general meeting. Len, who is well known in the industry, would be “sorely missed”, the ATA said.
The ATA, which has members across the UK, is the only organisation of its kind catering mostly for the fresh turkey trade with producers, poult suppliers, feed manufacturers and vets among its members.
Its roots go back to 1961 when the first event was held in Colchester. Its show and dinner has become a major event for the turkey world and it celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2011.
